Description
As the final series of the legendary Boeing 747 family, the Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet has been flying for some of the top airlines in the industry ever since its first flight in the early 2010s. There are two variants for the Boeing 747-8, the passenger version 747-8 Intercontinental, or 747-8I and the cargo version 747-8 Freighter, or 747-8F.
Both Boeing 747-8I and -8F have longer fuselages with a 5.575 m stretch and re-designed wings which are thicker, deeper and wider with raked wingtips. Powered by four GEnx-2B67 turbofan engines, the maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of the 747-8 reached 987,000 lb (448 t), giving it a shocking maximum payload of 292,400 lb (132.6 t).
It turned out that the cargo version 747-8F has been an even bigger commercial success than the passenger version. For airliners operating the Boeing 747-8F jumbo jets, the -8F model is considered as the finest flying machine of their fleets, another word, the flagship.
The Boeing 747-8F MSN 43536 took its first flight at Seattle Paine Field on November 25, 2013. The brand-new jumbo jet was then delivered to Cathay Pacific on December 19 as B-LJL.
Based on Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport (HKG/VHHH), one of the world's busiest airport, the ''Juliet Lima'' has been mainly flying to dozens of intercontinental destinations like Anchorage, Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Miami, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Sydney and Melbourne. Occasionally you can also find her landing at asian destinations like Tokyo, Dubai, Hanoi and Delhi as well as domestic airports like Beijing, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Chongqing, Xiamen and Taipei.
Over the years, the unparalleled capacity and reliability of this flying machine has been continuously creating profit for Cathay Pacific, proving its value once and once more.
Recently we found a honeycomb panel removed from B-LJL. After a lot of digging, we were finally able to confirm that this panel was removed from the upper surface of the left wing of the jumbo. Apparently the panel was located next to the spoiler #6 and has travelled for tens of millions of miles before being damaged, replaced and tagged. Although the ''Juliet Lima'' still has decades before her retirement, you can own a piece from this Boeing 747-8F right now.
Welcome to the Airlinertags fleet, the Boeing 747-8F!
