Handcrafted original aircraft skin from a BOEING B747-100.

The year 1970 was special to the Boeing 747, queen of the skies. The earliest Boeing 747 airframes entered service this year, including N4712U, a Boeing 747-122 built for United Airlines.

This Boeing 747 took her first flight on 18th August 1970. It had been flying with the name 'The Original Eight' referring to the original eight stewardesses for Boeing Air Transport, the predecessor of United Airlines. 'The Original Eight' had 15 years with United before her journey with Pan Am.

In 1985, Pan Am acquired this Boeing 747 and renamed her Clipper Tradewind. She served for Pan Am until the airline ceased operation in 1991. Since then, N4712U was transferred between several operators and stored in PIK (Glasgow Prestwick Airport, UK) in 2002. In 2017, the 47-year-old Boeing 747 was finally scrapped.

N4712U may not have a significant history among the mighty Boeing 747. Still, she had the honour of serving for both United Airlines and Pan Am, once owned the most significant 747 fleets in America, the other started the story of the Boeing 747. That is why we are glad to find some fuselage skins from this beauty. Welcome to the Airlinertags fleet, N4712U!
